Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects across the firm, including Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, and P3 delivery. You will collaborate with experienced engineers and managers, preparing roadway designs using OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and contributing to technical reports and modeling.

Fully remote candidates will be considered, with a preference for a hybrid arrangement based in Fairfax, VA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• Eight or more years of experience in transportation infrastructure design.
• Active PE license in VA or ability to obtain within six months.
• Proficiency with OpenRoads Designer (ORD) for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration across dispersed teams.
• Familiarity with DOT standards and procedures; experience with multiple state DOTs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on transportation projects across delivery types.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative, cost-effective design solutions.
• Serve as technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specifications, cost estimates, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
