Job summary

RK&K is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to play a key role in planning, design, and delivery of transportation projects across the firm. You will collaborate with engineers and project managers on Design-Bid-Build, Design-Build, P3, and other delivery methods, preparing roadway designs with ORD and contributing to reports and modeling.

Fully remote candidates will be considered, though a hybrid arrangement based in Fairfax, VA is preferred. Travel may be required as needed by projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in transportation infrastructure design.
• Active PE license in VA or able to obtain within 6 months.
• Proficient in ORD for roadway design and modeling.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; team collaboration.
• Familiarity with DOT standards across multiple states a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support technical design on diverse transportation projects (highways, interchanges, tollways, transit corridors).
• Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams across offices to develop innovative, cost-effective design solutions.
• Serve as a technical liaison between internal teams, clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Develop and review plans, specs, costs, and design reports using ORD.
• Participate in proposals, design-build pursuits, and technical presentations.
• Mentor junior engineers and support career development within the project team.
• Ensure quality control and compliance with standards and client requirements.
• Stay informed about industry trends and alternative delivery methods.
