Job summary

Volkert Inc. is seeking an experienced Transportation Project Engineer to support our Gulf Region, located in Alabama, Mississippi, and Tennessee. The role requires 4+ years in roadway design or traffic engineering and a PE license, with ABET-accredited civil engineering training.

You will lead design efforts, conduct traffic analyses, prepare plans and reports, and coordinate with subconsultants and team members to meet schedules and budgets. Expect occasional extended hours and travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program (M.S. a plus).
• 4-10+ years of relevant experience in roadway design, traffic engineering, and/or transportation planning.
• PE license and knowledge of DOT design standards, plans, and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead or assist in the design of transportation projects, including roadway geometry, drainage, traffic signals, signing and pavement marking, ITS, and maintenance of traffic plans.
• Conduct traffic operations analyses and prepare traffic impact, safety, corridor, and long-range planning studies.
• Prepare construction plans, specifications, quantities, cost estimates, technical reports, and memorandums.
• Direct EIs, designers, and interns, and coordinate with subconsultants to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and in line with QA/QC standards.
• Participate in client meetings, business development efforts, and team initiatives.
