Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Montgomery, NY seeks a Transportation Manager II to lead driver management, route planning, and on‑time freight movement while ensuring DOT compliance and safety.

You will supervise midsize driver teams, coordinate with customers and internal teams, and analyze operations to improve profitability and service quality. Flexibility to work day, night, and weekend shifts is required.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED and 2–3 years in transportation/logistics or related field.
• Ability to work across multiple shifts including nights and/or weekends.
• Strong professional communication skills internally and externally.
• Proven experience building healthy customer relationships via delivery of commitments.
• Experience using Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and travel to account locations.
• Adapt to a dynamic work environment with shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain positive professional relationships with drivers, safety, and customers.
• Fill in for absent personnel and optimize fleet operations for profitability.
• Train drivers and staff on internal and customer systems.
• Analyze fleet operations and KPIs, present reporting and financial analysis to customers.
• Manage yard, equipment, and maintenance coordination to ensure safety compliance.
• Resolve service issues, routing, and on‑call contingencies as needed.
• Ensure DOT compliance and safety culture through regular communications and training.
• Plan loads, routes, and monitor freight to meet on‑time delivery requirements.
