Job summary

US Foods seeks a Sr. Manager, Transportation to lead a safety‑driven, service‑mocussed department and to optimize outbound shipments across a network of centers. You will engage transportation leaders and drivers in cost‑efficient, compliant operations while upholding our safety standards.

Five+ years directing unionized CDL-A operations is highly preferred; you will coach managers, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive employee engagement across a complex transportation footprint.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years of experience in transportation/delivery supervision.
• Broad knowledge of transportation/delivery operations, methods and procedures.
• Strong leadership, communication and people development skills.
• Ability to communicate with all associates/departments within the company.
• Strong understanding of DOT, inventory control, OSHA, and regulatory requirements.
• Ability to interpret financial and operational data.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Achieve safety, service, and cost targets in the Transportation department.
• Oversee and develop Transportation Managers through coaching and policy training.
• Develop drivers and transportation personnel and drive engagement and retention.
• Build high-performing teams and monitor staffing, performance and discipline.
• Ensure compliant delivery processes and cost-effective solutions; interpret DOT regulations.
• Improve production flow and identify cost reduction strategies aligned with business goals.
• Assist HR and leadership in interpreting collective bargaining provisions in union facilities.
