Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Transportation Hydraulics Engineer to join the Transportation team at 6000 Fairview Rd, Charlotte, NC. This role provides technical leadership on transportation infrastructure projects, mentors staff, and delivers innovative hydraulic solutions across project phases.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil or Mechanical Engineering degree, a North Carolina PE license or reciprocity, and at least six years of hydraulics and two years of hydraulic modeling

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
• PE license in North Carolina or ability via reciprocity.
• At least 6 years hydraulics experience, closed system drainage, and ditch design.
• At least 2 years hydraulic modeling experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead engineer on mid- to large-scale transportation projects, providing technical direction and oversight throughout project development and delivery.
• Provide specialized technical expertise and engineering input for transportation studies, planning, and design efforts.
• Lead the development and review of complex engineering designs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client requirements.
• Review, approve, and seal engineering plans and deliverables within area of expertise and professional licensure.
• Develop and present complex technical solutions and recommendations to clients, project stakeholders, and internal leadership.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance reviews of engineering designs and technical documents prepared by other team members.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, supporting professional development and technical excellence.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals, scopes of work, and project pursuits to support business development efforts.
• Develop engineering budget estimates, resource requirements, and project schedules for large-scale transportation projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, and clients to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
