Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Senior Transportation Hydraulics Engineer to join our Transportation team at a hybrid location. The role provides technical leadership on transportation infrastructure projects, mentoring staff, and delivering innovative hydraulic solutions across project phases.

The ideal candidate brings a strong hydraulics background, project leadership experience, and the ability to manage complex designs, reviews, and client interactions with a focus on quality and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in South Carolina or the ability to obtain licensure through reciprocity.
• 6 years of Hydraulics experience, closed system drainage, and ditch design.
• 2 years of Hydraulic modeling experience.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead engineer on mid- to large-scale transportation projects, providing technical direction and oversight throughout project development and delivery.
• Provide specialized technical expertise and engineering input for transportation studies, planning, and design efforts.
• Lead the development and review of complex engineering designs, ensuring compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client requirements.
• Review, approve, and seal engineering plans and deliverables within area of expertise and professional licensure.
• Develop and present complex technical solutions and recommendations to clients, project stakeholders, and internal leadership.
• Perform quality control and quality assurance reviews of engineering designs and technical documents prepared by other team members.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, supporting professional development and technical excellence.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical proposals, scopes of work, and project pursuits to support business development efforts.
• Develop engineering budget estimates, resource requirements, and project schedules for large-scale transportation projects.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, project managers, and clients to ensure successful project execution and delivery.
