Job summary

AECOM in North Carolina is seeking a Senior Transportation Design Manager to lead delivery of transportation infrastructure projects, guiding multidisciplinary teams and serving as a trusted advisor to clients. This role combines technical leadership, project delivery, and business development to grow the NC transportation practice.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in civil engineering, 10+ years in transportation design, and a NC PE license or reciprocity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation infrastructure design and project delivery, including roadway, highway, and/or bridge projects, with at least 2 years in leadership.
• North Carolina PE license or ability to obtain through reciprocity.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of North Carolina transportation infrastructure projects ensuring achievement of project objectives related to scope, schedule, budget, and quality.
• Provide technical leadership and oversight to multidisciplinary teams throughout project development, design, and implementation.
• Serve as a Project Manager or Task Leader on complex assignments, coordinating resources and facilitating collaboration among internal and external stakeholders.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with transportation agencies, municipal clients, and other project partners through proactive engagement and exceptional service.
• Support the identification, development, and capture of new business opportunities within existing and emerging transportation markets.
• Contribute to proposal preparation, pursuit strategies, client presentations, and interview activities to help secure new work.
• Mentor and develop engineering and project management staff, promoting technical excellence, collaboration, and professional growth.
• Support strategic initiatives that enhance project delivery, strengthen client relationships, and expand the firm's transportation infrastructure practice.
