Job summary

Farnsworth Group, Inc. is seeking a Sr. Engineering Manager to lead transportation planning and design initiatives for local, state, and national projects. The role emphasizes engineering excellence, team mentorship, client relations, and cross-disciplinary collaboration.

The ideal candidate brings a Civil Engineering degree, a PE license in Illinois, 15+ years of transportation experience, and a proven track record managing budgets and schedules while guiding multiple projects and teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited Civil Engineering program.
• 15+ years of transportation experience with diverse project experience.
• Licensed Illinois Professional Engineer (PE).
• Experience working on and with IDOT, County, and Local Agency projects.
• Proven leadership skills with engineering staff.
• Strong team player in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Ability to effectively manage clients and deliver successful projects.
• Ability to contribute to several projects simultaneously.
• Working experience with Microsoft Office and knowledge of MicroStation, CONNECT, and ORD.

Responsibilities

• Engineer, support, and provide QC/QA for projects related to transportation planning and design.
• Develop and mentor staff
• Collaborate with other disciplines
• Develop and maintain Client Relations
• Establish and maintain budgets and schedules
• Work in partnership with leadership and other team members throughout the Transportation Group and Company
