West Virginia in Charleston is seeking a seasoned Traffic Engineer to lead operations in District 5. You will investigate traffic operation and safety issues, perform field observations, review data, and develop improvement recommendations for signings, markings, signals, and roadways.

The role requires a WV PE license, ABET accreditation, a minimum of seven years of civil engineering experience, and readiness to travel.

Formación

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of West Virginia (or licensed in another state with the ability to obtain WV P.E. registration by comity within 6 months of hire)
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, engineering technology, or a related engineering field from an ABET-accredited program.
• Seven + (7) years of progressive, professional civil engineering experience.

Responsabilidades

• Investigate reported traffic operation and safety issues by field observations and reviewing crash data
• Perform speed studies to determine new or adjusted speed limits for roadways
• Develop recommendations for pavement markings, traffic signs, signal timing, roadway modifications, and intersection changes
• Review requests and provide recommendations related to pedestrian and bicyclist infrastructure and crossings
• Draft Commissioner Orders for speed limits and parking restrictions
• Review conditions of traffic signs, markings, or other traffic engineering assets and provide repair/replacement recommendations
• Perform traffic operations analysis using modeling software to develop improvement recommendations
• Review maintenance of traffic (MOT) plans for District projects
• Review active work zones to identify MOT-related issues
• Review locations for proposed new driveway entrances onto the state road system
• Perform sight distance analysis for intersections or driveways
