Job summary

The State of West Virginia District 8 Traffic Engineering team seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to guide traffic operations and safety improvements across Pendleton, Pocahontas, Randolph, and Tucker counties. You will report to the Region 1 Traffic Engineering Manager and supervise district staff and the Sign Shop.

Applicants should have a WV P.E. license or comity, an ABET-accredited degree, and seven or more years of civil engineering experience, with travel as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Requires Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of West Virginia or eligible by comity within 6 months of hire.
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, engineering technology, or related field from ABET-accredited program.
• For training/education, degree must be verified before employment; attach transcript or diploma.

Responsibilities

• Investigate reported traffic operation and safety issues through field observations and data review.
• Review crash data, traffic counts, and speed data to inform speed limit decisions and roadway changes.
• Develop recommendations for pavement markings, traffic signs, signal timing, and roadway/intersection modifications.
• Review MOT plans and active work zones, and oversee district sign shop operations and direction.
