Job summary

West Virginia Department of Transportation seeks a licensed Professional Engineer to oversee district traffic engineering in District 8 (Pendleton, Pocahontas, Randolph & Tucker counties) from Charleston. You will investigate traffic safety issues, review MOT plans, and develop timing, signage, and roadway modification recommendations.

The role requires a PE, a ABET-accredited degree, and at least seven years of civil engineering experience with travel to sites and periodic training in

Qualifications

• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) in WV or another state with comity within 6 months
• Bachelor’s degree in civil, electrical, mechanical, industrial, petroleum, mining, environmental, engineering technology or related field from ABET-accredited program
• Degree transcript or diploma must be attached to the application

Responsibilities

• Investigate traffic operation and safety issues via field observations, crash data, and traffic counts
• Develop speed limit recommendations and pavement marking or sign adjustments
• Review MOT plans, active work zones, and driveway locations for safety and efficiency
• Provide traffic engineering analyses and recommendations for projects and new infrastructure
• Coordinate with Regional Manager and District engineers and attend related trainings in Charleston as needed
