Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen, Inc. (GPI) seeks an experienced Chief Construction Inspector to join our expanding Construction Engineering & Inspection (CEI) team in Shelton, Connecticut.

As a Chief Construction Inspector, you will play a critical leadership role overseeing transportation infrastructure construction projects, ensuring compliance with contract documents, coordinating inspection staff, and serving as the primary field representative between contractors, clients, and project stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of construction inspection experience on transportation infrastructure projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE), NICET Level IV, or CCM certification required or equivalent.
• Experience with Connecticut DOT, municipal, or other public agency projects preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead construction inspection activities on roadway, bridge, and transportation infrastructure projects.
• Manage and supervise inspection staff, technicians, and subcontractors.
• Serve as the primary liaison between GPI, contractors, and Connecticut DOT representatives.
• Ensure construction work complies with plans, specifications, standards, and contract requirements.
• Review daily inspection reports, material certifications, and project documentation.
• Monitor project schedules, quantities, change orders, and pay estimates.
• Coordinate field testing and quality assurance activities.
• Conduct project meetings and communicate project status to clients and stakeholders.
• Identify and resolve construction issues while maintaining project progress and quality.
• Mentor junior inspectors and support staff development.
