Job summary

Greenman-Pedersen Inc (GPI) seeks a motivated Bridge Engineer to join our transportation team in Shelton, Connecticut. The position focuses on a diverse portfolio of bridge projects, including inspections, load ratings, rehabilitation, and replacement designs for public-sector clients across Connecticut and the Northeast.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a structural emphasis.
• EIT certification required; PE license preferred or ability to obtain.
• 2–8 years of bridge engineering experience.
• Experience with bridge inspection and load rating projects is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for bridge rehabilitation, replacement, and maintenance projects.
• Prepare bridge plans, specifications, reports, and construction documents.
• Conduct bridge inspections in accordance with FHWA, NBIS, and state DOT requirements.
• Assist with the preparation of bridge inspection reports and maintenance recommendations.
• Perform bridge load ratings utilizing AASHTO methodologies and software.
• Develop engineering calculations, cost estimates, and technical studies.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams including highway, traffic, environmental, and construction staff.
• Participate in field visits, site assessments, and client meetings.
