Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Civil Engineer to join our Tucson transportation team, supporting planning, design and delivery of transportation infrastructure across Arizona and the Southwest. You will lead design activities, mentor staff and coordinate with multiple disciplines to meet client objectives and design standards.

The role offers ownership of engineering assignments from preliminary through final design and construction, with opportunities to collaborate across ADOT and local agencies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a related discipline.
• PE licensure in Arizona or reciprocity to obtain licensure.
• Experience in roadway and highway design including geometric design, alignments and corridor improvements.
• Experience delivering transportation projects for ADOT, municipalities or counties.
• Knowledge of ADOT design guidelines, AASHTO standards and applicable transportation engineering criteria.
• Proficiency with Bentley OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation or comparable roadway design software.
• Experience preparing and reviewing PS&E packages, engineering calculations and construction cost estimates.
• Experience coordinating multidisciplinary transportation design activities and performing technical quality reviews.
• Experience providing technical guidance to engineering staff and supporting project managers with budgets, schedules and client coordination.

Responsibilities

• Lead roadway and highway design activities, including geometric design and intersections.
• Prepare and review PS&E for roadway improvements, highway widening and corridor projects.
• Provide specialized input for transportation studies and analyses.
• Develop and review engineering calculations, technical reports and construction cost estimates.
• Coordinate with drainage, structures, traffic engineering, utilities and environmental teams.
• Develop design procedures and approaches for efficient project delivery.
• Perform quality control reviews of calculations and drawings.
• Prepare technical specifications and supporting documentation for projects.
• Support projects through preliminary engineering, final design, permitting and construction.
