Job summary

Duke Energy in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Senior Engineer to perform protective relay studies, calculations, and settings development for substation protection systems. You will focus on applying new protective relaying for planned projects and integrate designs with legacy systems, with field support for implementation and commissioning. The role requires a B.S.

or M.S. in Electrical Engineering and 6+ years of experience (or 5 years with a PE).

Qualifications

B.S. in Electrical Engineering (ABET-accredited) or M.S. in Electrical Engineering.
Minimum of 6 years engineering experience or 5 years with Professional Engineer.
Proficiency in protective relaying theories, standards, and practices.

Responsibilities

Provide protective relay engineering expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve increasingly complex issues.
Plan and execute work (scope, schedule, estimates) and adapt to changing priorities.
Conduct engineering and related studies.
Create and update technical schematics and configuration files for planned project work.
Prepare clear technical documentation for engineering analyses and deliverables.
Maintain and grow technical and professional skills.
Coordinate effectively with teammates and stakeholder teams; communicate clearly; maintain accurate records.
