Job summary

1898 & Co. in the US-CA-Brea area is seeking a Transmission Planning Consultant to perform advanced transmission studies and support client decisions with technical and economic analysis.

The role requires strong project leadership, knowledge of NERC/FERC standards, and experience with PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, and Promod. Willingness to travel and collaborate across teams is essential.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited engineering degree or equivalent with 3 years of related experience.
Master's degree in engineering or business with 2 years of related experience.
PhD in engineering with 1 year of related experience.
Experience with electric utility operations, planning, or consulting.

Responsibilities

Perform a broad range of transmission studies including power flow, stability, and voltage analysis.
Evaluate NERC/FERC and regional requirements and perform risk assessments.
Independently run planning studies with industry software (PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD).
Develop life-cycle cost analyses including CAPEX and O&M estimates.
Prepare technical reports and client presentations; support business development.
Lead and educate a team of consultants and analysts on transmission planning.
