Job summary

1898 & Co. seeks a Transmission Planning Consultant to advance electric grid reliability and renewable integration. You will perform studies (power flow, stability, short-circuit), evaluate regulatory impacts, and support client decision-making with technical and economic analyses.

You will independently execute planning analyses using industry tools, develop life-cycle cost estimates, and deliver technical reports. Travel to client sites is expected, with PE license preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from ABET-accredited program and 3 years of related experience.
• Or master's degree in engineering or business and 2 years of experience.
• Or PhD in engineering and 1 year of experience.
• Experience with electric utility operations, planning, or consulting.
• Experience with power system planning and operations; NERC/FERC/regional requirements and policies.

Responsibilities

• Perform a broad range of transmission studies and consulting services (power flow, transient stability, short-circuit, etc.).
• Evaluate regulatory conditions and risks under NERC, FERC, and regional requirements.
• Independently execute planning studies using software like PSS/E, PSLF, EMTP/ATP, PSCAD, SKM, ETAP, Promod.
• Develop life-cycle cost, capital, and O&M estimates for projects.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients.
• Support project managers with client deliverables and business development.
