Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to manage a senior team designing overhead systems from 34.5 kV to 500 kV for major utilities. You will guide engineering analyses, drafting, BOMs, and procurement across planning through construction, with a focus on client relations and staff development.

The role emphasizes leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and innovation in a fast-paced, remote-friendly environment. Florida-based preference exists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering (Civil preferred).
• 8+ years of experience in electric utility transmission design; or 6+ years with a Master's.
• Expertise with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE for design and analysis.
• Strong communication to act as primary client contact and lead teams.
• Willingness for onsite travel and mentoring staff.

Responsibilities

• Direct multiple design teams to execute varied projects for several clients.
• Develop and coach Leidos’ engineering talent and oversee staff performance.
• Approve timesheets and run annual performance reviews.
• Participate in the Transmission Line Section leadership activities.
• Prepare proposals and define scope for new work (RFPs/RFIs/RFQs).
• Foster creative problem solving and drive continuous improvement.
• Delegate tasks, forecast workload, and support recruitment goals.
• Drive quality control to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Liaise with clients to build long-term relationships and business growth.
• Monitor project portfolio using proactive management with PMO support.
