Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to manage a senior team working on 34.5 kV to 500 kV transmission projects for major utilities. The role emphasizes leadership, design excellence, and client interactions while applying standards like NESC, ASCE, ACI, and NEC.

The position is 100% remote (SE US residence preferred). Expect fast-paced programs, growth opportunities, and collaboration with a nationwide client base in a dynamic engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering; Civil Engineering is preferred.
• 8+ years of relevant experience in the design of electric utility transmission systems with a Bachelor's degree, or 6+ years with a Master's.
• Expertise in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Work effectively in a team environment; can also work independently.
• Track record of outstanding communication to serve as primary point of contact for existing and perspective clients.
• Working onsite in Leidos or client office is a possibility; some travel may be required.
• Ability and passion to develop staff through mentoring.

Responsibilities

• Direct multiple design teams simultaneously executing various projects for multiple clients.
• Develop a team of engineers through training, coaching, and mentoring Leidos’ engineering talent.
• Supervise staff by approving timesheets and conducting performance reviews.
• Contribute as a member of the Transmission Line leadership team.
• Prepare proposals and define scope of work for new projects.
• Drive process improvements and automate workflows to enhance technical resources.
• Oversee project portfolio health by tracking scope, schedules, and budget.
• Foster long-term client relationships and support business development.
