Job summary

GFT in the Power Business Group is seeking a Senior Transmission Line Engineer to lead transmission line project designs, acting as a subject matter expert in engineering practice. The role involves guiding client discussions, coordinating with internal teams, and contributing strategic input to project goals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transmission line design, experience with PLS-CADD, and familiarity with NESC/IEEE/NEC standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Electrical, or Structural Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 3+ years of experience in transmission line design.
• In-depth knowledge of NESC, IEEE, and other applicable codes and standards related to transmission line design.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission line segments using PLS-CADD or other structural design software.
• Develop design criteria documents and construction specifications.
• Prepare construction packages with structure details, material lists, staking tables, plan and profiles, and stringing charts.
• Estimate project costs, resources, labor, and materials, establishing deadlines.
• Write, modify, and review specifications per NESC/IEEE/NEC and industry best practices.
• Conduct feasibility routing and EMF calculations to support planning.
• Oversee project implementation and verify foundations, structures, and equipment installation.
