Job summary

Actalent is seeking a senior Transmission Line Engineer Lead based in New Albany, OH. The role involves leading a team within the Transmission Line Engineering Department to design and manage large-scale transmission projects and mentor junior engineers.

The engineer will work with in-house and client engineers, coordinate with contractors and regulatory bodies, and oversee the training of lower-level staff. Occasional travel to site visits is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (ABET).
• Masters degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (ABET) will count toward years of experience.

Responsibilities

• Engineering and design activities related to Transmission Line Engineering including analysis, design, route selection, material acquisition, structural and foundation design, and project/construction management.
• Prepare project construction documents: plan/profile drawings, design drawings, specifications, schedules and bills of material.
• Develop project design alternatives and cost estimates.
• Design transmission line facilities with voltages from 69 kV to 765 kV.
• Use PLS-CADD to model transmission line design projects.
• Attend contractor bid/construction meetings; ensure work is performed safely per plans, schedules, and regulations.
• Coordinate with governmental/regulatory agencies and contractors.
• Provide leadership to train and mentor engineers and set goals/objectives.
• Serve as engineering project lead for transmission projects.
• Lead and coordinate work activities within the group/department/external entities.
• Provide training and guidance to lower-level employees.
• Identify corrective actions when objectives are not met.
• Interpret codes/regulations and develop construction standards.
• Promote engineering professionalism and standards.
• Develop and implement plans with goals, resources, and information for complex engineering.
• Position requires occasional travel for site visits.

Education

Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering (ABET)
