Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Transmission Line Engineer to manage a high-performing team delivering overhead and underground transmission line projects from 34.5 kV to 765 kV. You will apply standards (NESC, ASCE, NEC) and lead technical design, analyses, and procurement documentation for major utilities.

You will direct engineers across planning, environmental, permitting, and construction phases, with a focus on staff development, client relations, and new business capture.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, or Mechanical Engineering with eight plus (8+) years of relevant experience in the design of high voltage electric utility transmission systems.
• Expertise in PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• Engineer In Training (EIT) certification.
• Strong communication skills to serve as primary point of contact for clients.

Responsibilities

• Direct multiple design teams on high voltage transmission projects for utilities.
• Mentor and develop engineering staff, manage performance reviews.
• Prepare proposals, define scope, and respond to RFPs/RFIs/RFQs.
• Drive quality control and portfolio health across projects.
