Job summary

The Sustainable Partnership is actively seeking a Transmission Planning professional to manage interconnection studies from Western US projects through to execution. You will analyze power flow, costs, and market opportunities while coordinating with CAISO, WECC, and utilities to progress renewables initiatives.

With 4–8 years of relevant experience and a solid grasp of interconnection processes, you will contribute to M&A diligence and risk assessment and may engage in occasional site

Qualifications

• 4-8 years’ experience in transmission planning, generator interconnection, power systems engineering, utility planning, transmission consulting or renewables development
• Hands-on experience of CAISO and WECC interconnection and transmission planning processes, market structures and transmission service requests
• Experience with tools such as TARA, PSLF, PSS/E or PowerWorld
• Exposure to production cost or economic modelling tools (PROMOD, GridView, Dayzer) is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar; PE license a plus but not essential

Responsibilities

• Manage interconnection requests and study processes
• Run and review power flow analyses to understand upgrade costs
• Help identify best markets and zones for new development
• Support M&A diligence on transmission and congestion risk
• Work with engineering, utilities and CAISO to get advanced projects over the line, including negotiating interconnection agreements
