Job summary

WSP is seeking a Sr Transmission Project Manager for our Power & Energy Program Management Team in St. Louis, MO or Springfield, IL. The role manages technical, schedule, quality, and financial aspects of transmission line and substation projects, while developing client relationships.

Travel to WSP/client offices for face-to-face meetings is required as needed. The position may be offered remotely from a mutually acceptable WSP office, with expectation of periodic on-site coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, Business or related field.
• 12+ years of post-education experience with PM responsibility in Power Delivery, transmission, substation, or related infra.
• Experience leading multiple concurrent medium to large transmission line or substation projects for electric utilities.
• Ability to manage client relationships at senior levels and deliver long-term account objectives.
• Advanced understanding of project controls: CPM scheduling, cost forecasting, earned value, change and risk management.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, execution, monitoring, and closeout of multiple significant transmission line and substation projects.
• Provide senior-level PM oversight for scope, schedule, budget, quality, safety, risk, procurement, and commissioning.
• Serve as primary accountability point for project delivery, manage risks and client expectations.
• Maintain regular client communications including monthly status, safety incidents, and major issues.
• Oversee problem project reviews and develop recovery plans; provide root-cause input.
• Ensure regular reporting and updates to clients, technical areas, and managers.
• Develop and communicate integrated schedules, cost forecasts, and executive reporting for portfolio visibility.
• Manage project financials: budgeting, forecasting, EV, change control, invoicing and margins.
• Lead client engagement and ongoing relationship development; coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
• Establish governance: risk registers, logs, change control, QA/QC, audit-ready docs.
• Mentor project managers and teams; promote accountability and best practices.
