Job summary

American Electric Power in Bluefield, West Virginia, is seeking a Senior Transmission Construction Representative to lead on-site construction management for transmission lines and stations. The role includes oversight of safety, quality, permits, outages, and resource coordination to ensure projects stay on time and within budget.

You’ll mentor junior staff, review drawings, and ensure compliance with regulations and company policies throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management science or related field with 6+ years of PM/construction experience OR an associate degree with 8 years in electric industry.
• High school diploma acceptable with 10 years related experience in electric industry or PM oversight.

Responsibilities

• Provide construction site management for transmission line and station projects to meet budget, schedule, and scope.
• Ensure compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations and project specifications.
• Oversee OSHA safety, quality assurance, and environmental policies on site.
• Coordinate permits, outages, material deliveries, and coordination with engineering and procurement.
• Mentor junior team members and provide feedback during project closeout.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in construction management science with emphasis on project/construction management or bachelor’s degree in construction technology, Electrical or Civil Engineering, Project Management, or related technology field

Associate degree in Construction Management Technology, Project Management, Electrical or Civil Engineering, or related technology field

High School diploma with 10 years related experience in electric industry or project management/oversight
