Job summary

SYSTRA USA is seeking a Senior Transit and Rail Signals Lead to drive design, testing, and commissioning of signal systems for major rail projects. The role blends office design work with field collaboration, requiring leadership of a team of signalmen and close coordination with clients and engineers.

Based in the greater San Diego area, the position emphasizes modular signal design, project execution in a dynamic environment, and ensuring safety and reliability across transit systems.

Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of signaling principles pertaining to automatic and cab signaling systems.
• In-depth understanding of Boolean algebra as it pertains to Signal application logic programs.
• 10-20 years of experience in a Railroad Signals environment.
• Knowledge of Positive Train Control (PTC) systems and associated federal regulations.
• A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience performing Signal System design.

Responsibilities

• Produce and participate in signal system designs for transit and rail projects with little to no supervision to include ATCS, interlocking, block signal systems, and related drawings.
• Develop detailed signal system construction plans, site plans, and installation drawings.
• Review circuit designs for failures and customer technical specification compliance.
• Write test and commissioning specifications, procedures, test plans, and cutover staging.
• Lead a team of signalmen in testing and commissioning of new signal systems.
