Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Signals Discipline Lead to drive the planning, design, and delivery of rail and transit signal systems across light rail, commuter, heavy rail, and freight projects. You will mentor engineers, perform QA/QC, and coordinate multidisciplinary interfaces to ensure safe, reliable operations.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Systems Engineering, PE licensure (or willingness to obtain within two years), and strong knowledge of AREMA and FRA standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure or ability to obtain within two years of hire.
• Experience with AREMA, FRA regulations, and signal design practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, design, and delivery of rail and transit signal systems through design and construction phases.
• Provide technical leadership and engineering oversight to mid-level and junior staff, including QA/QC reviews.
• Develop signal design packages including layouts, interlocking plans, and route charts.
• Coordinate interfaces with traction power, communications, SCADA, and other systems for multidisciplinary integration.
• Support FAT, SAT, commissioning, and revenue service implementation for signal and train control systems.
