Surge Staffing in Columbus, OH is seeking a Senior Training Specialist to deliver and improve onboarding, operational excellence, and professional development programs. You will partner with Instructional Designers, business leaders, and SMEs to ensure learning solutions are applied on the job, across instructor-led, virtual, blended, and digital formats.

You will bring advanced facilitation, coaching, and learner-centered approaches, supporting the training lifecycle from design to measurement

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate training, facilitation, learning and development, instructional design, or a related field.
  • Experience facilitating instructor-led and virtual training programs.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and effective facilitation techniques.
  • Experience coaching employees and supporting the transfer of learning to the workplace.
  • Experience partnering with subject matter experts, business leaders, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation, communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and virtual learning technologies preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instructor-led, virtual, blended, and other learning programs for employees across the organization.
  • Facilitate onboarding, operational training, professional development, leadership, systems, and other organizational learning programs.
  • Create an inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, discussion, practice, and application.
  • Adapt facilitation techniques and delivery approaches based on learner needs, experience levels, and learning objectives.
  • Demonstrate strong classroom management and virtual facilitation skills.
  • Provide coaching, reinforcement, and guidance to learners to support successful application of training on the job.
  • Serve as a role model for effective training delivery and adult learning practices.
  • Partner with Instructional Designers to review, pilot, implement, and improve learning programs.
  • Provide practical feedback on curriculum, facilitator materials, activities, assessments, and learner experiences.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen training content based on learner questions, operational challenges, and observed performance needs.
  • Support the implementation of new and updated learning programs across the organization.
  • Maintain current knowledge of training materials, systems, processes, policies, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure training delivery aligns with established learning objectives, curriculum standards, and organizational expectations.
  • Build strong relationships with business leaders, subject matter experts, Training team members, and employees.
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand training needs and identify opportunities to improve employee performance.
  • Serve as a trusted training resource for operational teams and business partners.
  • Collaborate with Instructional Designers and other Learning and Development team members on strategic learning initiatives.
  • Participate in content reviews, pilot sessions, train-the-trainer activities, and learning implementation efforts.
  • Communicate learner and operational feedback to the appropriate stakeholders and recommend improvements.
  • Provide coaching and reinforcement to employees following formal learning experiences.
  • Identify common knowledge or skill gaps and recommend targeted learning or performance support.
  • Develop or contribute to job aids, quick-reference resources, practice activities, and other performance support tools.
  • Support managers and leaders in reinforcing learning and encouraging consistent application on the job.
  • Identify barriers to successful learning transfer and collaborate with stakeholders to address them.
  • Coordinate and support training schedules, sessions, materials, logistics, and learner communications.
  • Support the successful implementation of learning programs across multiple locations, teams, or employee populations.
  • Manage multiple training priorities while maintaining quality and meeting established deadlines.
  • Support train-the-trainer initiatives and provide guidance to other facilitators when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate training records and support Learning Management System activities as required.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of training standards, processes, templates, and facilitator resources.
  • Gather learner feedback and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Monitor learner engagement, assessment results, completion data, and other available training metrics.
  • Identify trends and recurring learner challenges that may indicate opportunities for curriculum or performance improvement.

The Senior Training Specialist is responsible for delivering, facilitating, coordinating, and continuously improving learning programs that support employee onboarding, operational excellence, professional development, and organizational performance. This role serves as a senior training resource and subject matter expert in learning delivery, partnering with Instructional Designers, business leaders, subject matter experts, and employees to ensure learning solutions are effectively implemented and applied on the job.

The Senior Training Specialist brings advanced facilitation, coaching, and training expertise to the Learning and Development function. This role supports instructor-led, virtual, blended, and digital learning programs and provides feedback from the learner and operational perspective to strengthen curriculum, training delivery, and employee performance.

Key Responsibilities
Training Delivery & Facilitation
  • Deliver engaging instructor-led, virtual, blended, and other learning programs for employees across the organization.
