Job summary

Johnson Outdoors is seeking a Senior Training and Safety Specialist to develop, implement and evaluate training programs and safety initiatives at our Lake Eufaula, Alabama facility. You will partner with leadership to mitigate risk and improve workforce capability through effective training strategies.

You will design curricula, assess training effectiveness, lead safety programs, ensure OSHA compliance, and drive continuous improvement using data analytics and incident investigations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental health, training or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in training, instructional design, and safety program facilitation.
• Advanced proficiency in instructional design, learning theories and blended learning.
• Proven leadership to guide project teams and training initiatives.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills for safety issues and metrics.
• Experience managing projects from concept to evaluation.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA and regulatory standards; 30 hours OSHA general industry training.
• Familiarity with ISO 14001, REBA, and RULA frameworks.
• Strong communication and presentation skills across levels.
• Proficient with MS Office, MS Project, Adobe Premiere Pro, and Minitab.

Responsibilities

• Designs and delivers training programs and materials with SME input.
• Creates assessment tools and evaluates training effectiveness.
• Leads safety program development and continuous improvement.
• Plans and enforces safety policies per OSHA requirements.
• Advises management on compliance and preventive actions.
• Conducts audits, inspections and risk assessments; drives corrective actions.
• Investigates incidents and documents root causes with corrective actions.
• Develops preventive strategies and communicates lessons learned.
• Uses metrics to identify safety risks and improvement opportunities.
• Recommends process improvements to safety and workforce capability.
• Maintains OSHA logs, environmental records and regulatory docs.
• Prepares detailed performance reports for training and safety initiatives.
