Job summary

U.S. Engineering Construction in Montgomery, AL seeks a Safety Manager to lead safety programs across projects, ensure regulatory compliance, mentor Field Safety Coordinators, and partner with operations to minimize risk.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and industry experience.
• Minimum of 5 years of safety experience in the construction industry or a related field.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred, including oversight of safety training programs.

Responsibilities

• Stay current on construction industry safety standards and oversee safety programs.
• Provide leadership and guidance on safety policies; advise project leadership on safety matters.
• Direct project and campus safety efforts to ensure compliance with safety programs and policies.
• Collaborate with project management to guide field safety coordinators and staff.
• Support the corporate safety committee in achieving strategic safety goals.
• Design and implement safety recognition programs to reinforce safe behaviors.
• Develop and deliver safety training programs, including new employee orientation.
• Investigate safety incidents thoroughly and communicate outcomes per procedures.
• Partner with Risk Management to reduce liability and workers’ compensation costs.
• Manage return-to-work programs and modified duties for injured employees.
• Represent the company in safety-related hearings (e.g., OSHA).
• Oversee site training, procurement, and safety recordkeeping.
