Job summary

GFT, an AEC transportation firm, is seeking a Senior Project Manager, Traffic Engineer to join its Transportation Team across multiple offices including Omaha, NE. The role blends hybrid work with strong leadership of a distributed traffic group and delivery of complex signal and ITS projects for state DOTs and municipalities.

The position requires a PE license (KS/MO) with 15+ years in traffic/hwy engineering, proficiency in Synchro, HCS, Sidra, VISSIM, MicroStation/OpenRoads, and a track

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Minimum of 15 years' professional experience within Traffic and/or Highway engineering.
• PE license in Kansas or Missouri; ability to obtain in other Midwest states (Nebraska).
• Experience with KDOT or MoDOT and other local transportation agencies.
• Experience with traffic and safety analysis; knowledge of MUTCD.
• Experience with traffic simulation software (Synchro, HCS, Sidra, or VISSIM).
• Experience with traffic control design elements and MOT plans; Proficiency with CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and delivery of complex traffic signal and ITS projects across urban streets and freeways.
• Provide SME in ITS, detection, communications, system integration, and operations.
• Plan and direct traffic analyses, safety studies, and interchange reports.
• Manage schedules and budgets, ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery.
• Mentor engineers and designers across a remotely distributed regional group.
• Coordinate development, staffing, and scheduling; resolve design challenges.
• Support business development and client engagements with technical insights.
