Job summary

GFT seeks a Senior Project Manager, Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Team in multiple office locations with a hybrid work model. The role leads complex traffic/ITS projects, oversees a distributed traffic group, and collaborates with state DOTs, municipalities, and regional agencies to deliver resilient, safe solutions.

Requirements include a PE in KS/MO or ability to obtain in other Midwest states, 15+ years in traffic/hwy engineering, and proficiency with Synchro/HCS/Sidra/VISSIM,

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• 15+ years of professional experience in traffic and/or highway engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in KS or MO; ability to obtain in other Midwest states (NE).
• Experience with KDOT or MoDOT and other local transportation agencies.
• Experience with traffic and safety analysis; knowledge of MUTCD and Highway Capacity Manual.
• Experience with traffic simulation software (Synchro, HCS, Sidra, and/or VISSIM).
• Proficiency with MicroStation CAD, OpenRoads Designer, and Microsoft Excel/Word.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and delivery of complex traffic signal and ITS projects across urban streets, arterials, freeways, and citywide deployments.
• Plan and direct traffic analyses and studies including traffic impact studies and safety audits.
• Manage a remotely distributed regional traffic group and mentor engineers and designers.
• Coordinate project meetings, responsibilities, scheduling, and staffing across multidisciplinary teams.
• Assist in business proposals and support client development efforts; serve as a technical advisor to clients.
