Job summary

Apex seeks a Senior Project Engineer for the Traffic section of the New England Transportation Division. This hybrid role can be based in Quincy or Woburn, MA, or Providence, RI, with responsibilities spanning technical supervision of complex projects and traffic studies.

You will develop traffic solutions, oversee signal designs, and manage client relations while mentoring staff and contributing to proposals and public presentations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• 5+ years of traffic experience.
• Registered Professional Engineer or licensure possible within one year.
• Knowledge of MassDOT traffic study requirements and MassDOT design process a plus.
• Expertise in Synchro software required.
• Experience using SIDRA and PTV Vissim a plus.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving history.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical supervision of complex projects within scope, budget and schedule.
• Oversee or prepare traffic studies and models for diverse projects.
• Develop traffic solutions using engineering knowledge to deliver quality work.
• Oversee or prepare traffic signal design plans and provisions.
• Oversee or prepare traffic sign, pavement markings, and traffic management plans.
• Maintain positive relationships with clients.
• Assist in developing technical approaches for proposals.
• Support Project Managers in planning, coordination and execution of projects.
• Prepare technical memoranda, reports, contracts, and scopes of work.
• Perform traffic peer reviews and present findings to municipal boards.
• Mentor and supervise junior staff; manage workload and timesheets.
• Maintain quality control within the department.
• Prepare for and perform public presentations.
