Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an experienced Traffic Engineer for our Maryland Traffic practice in Baltimore. This role will grow our traffic engineering design, signal design, analysis, and studies for MDOT and municipal projects.

You will lead design and analysis work, coordinate with cross-functional teams, prepare technical memos, and ensure safety and quality across projects. This is a hands-on role to advance corridor improvements and traffic operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
• P.E. license.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience in engineering and traffic design.
• Experience with traffic software: HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, ArcGIS.
• Proficient in traffic engineering principles, capacity analyses, and signal design.
• Experience with roadway planning and construction management.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Commitment to safety and policy adherence.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Project Engineer for MDOT and municipal traffic projects.
• Involved from inception to completion in design and construction management.
• Provide technical expertise to cross-functional teams for multiple projects.
• Design traffic control devices, estimates, and specs for bid packages.
• Inspect site conditions and traffic patterns for conformance with standards.
• May support design-build or other traffic projects as needed.
• Develop concepts for intersection and corridor improvements.
• Work on signal design and operational improvement projects.
• Lead traffic and crash analyses; complete traffic studies.
