Job summary

WSP USA in Maryland is seeking a licensed traffic engineer to provide technical guidance for investigation, planning, design, and operation of streets and highways across multiple sites. You will lead a cross-disciplinary team and perform capacity analyses, traffic signal design, and prepare technical reports to ensure safety and compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or closely related discipline.
  • 5–7 years of post-education engineering and traffic design experience.
  • Engineer in Training Certification.
  • Knowledge of DOT advisory circulars and procedures.
  • Proficient in traffic engineering, capacity analysis, and related design processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform professional traffic engineering work and investigations of site conditions, intersections, and transportation corridors.
  • Develop concepts for intersection and corridor improvements and coordinate with authorities and clients.
  • Design traffic signal improvements and real-time corridor operations.
  • Prepare technical reports, data visualizations, and presentations.
  • Ensure QA/QC and compliance with permits, regulations, and safety standards.
