Job summary

WSP is seeking a Lead Traffic Design Engineer to lead multi-site transportation projects from Tampa or Orlando, FL. The role involves guiding design, analysis, and construction of roadways, signals, and corridor improvements, with emphasis on safety, efficiency, and compliance with standards.

The ideal candidate will have 7–10 years of post-education experience, a professional engineer license, and strong skills in AutoCAD/MicroStation, traffic analysis, and project leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 7–10 years of post-education experience in engineering and traffic design.
• Engineer license required.
• Knowledge of DOT advisory circulars and procedures.
• Proficient in traffic engineering principles and related design/analysis.
• Experience with roadway planning and construction management.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance collecting and analyzing data from sites, surveys, maps, and GIS for project development, design, and construction.
• Apply high-level traffic engineering techniques to identify improvements across project phases.
• Perform investigations and inspections of site conditions to ensure compliance with regulations and permits.
• Develop innovative concepts for intersection and corridor improvements coordinating with authorities and clients.
• Design traffic signal improvements to enable real-time corridor operations.
• Oversee design and construction of traffic projects including pavements and safety plans.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations explaining findings and recommendations.
