Job summary

The role includes mentoring junior staff, applying ITS design and signal timing optimization, and ensuring quality across projects within HDR's transportation group.

Responsibilities

• HDR's Traffic Engineer will serve as a project manager or technical leader for transportation planning, traffic engineering analysis, Traffic and ITS design projects and project development.
• Develop traffic studies including traffic impact analyses, corridor studies, access management studies, historic/predictive safety analysis, traffic signal optimization studies, safe routes to school studies, photometric analysis studies, transit operation, traffic signal timing plans, and macroscopic simulation modeling.
• Prepare plans, specifications, and estimates documents including signing and striping, traffic signals, illumination, and Intelligent Traffic Systems for various state and local agencies, as well as private developers.
• Prepare or review scopes, budgets, and schedules; write reports and technical memorandums; coordinate with subconsultants and clients to keep projects on schedule and within budget.
• Work closely with the Area Manager, Transportation Business Group Manager, Transportation Program Manager, Section Managers, and multiple Project Managers for project reviews; implement project quality management plans.
• Review work of and mentor junior engineers and technical staff as needed.
