Job summary

DesignForce, a leading multimodal transportation engineering consultancy, seeks a Senior Traffic Engineer to lead transportation planning projects in the DMV. You will focus on traffic analysis, multimodal studies, and TIAs, while mentoring junior staff and delivering high‑quality, compliant results.

Responsibilities include coordinating with agencies (VDOT, DDOT, county planners), managing budgets, and presenting findings.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional experience in traffic/transportation engineering, planning, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering or related discipline.
• PE license or active pursuit of licensure depending on role.
• Strong collaboration and cross‑disciplinary teamwork mindset.

Responsibilities

• Lead traffic analysis, modeling, and TIAs with clear recommendations.
• Analyze data to inform project recommendations and performance.
• Develop TDM plans to reduce congestion and improve mobility.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to professional development.
• Prepare technical reports, presentations, and project documents.
• Manage project scope, budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
• Lead client meetings and coordinate with agencies for approvals.
