Job summary

CDM Smith is seeking a transportation engineer to lead and support a broad range of traffic and multimodal projects. You will serve as Task Manager or Project Engineer on multiple work orders, contribute to proposals, and help staff projects across the region.

You will perform traffic analysis with industry tools and collaborate on design reports. The role requires an engineering degree, travel willingness, and experience with traffic signal design, planning, and ITS.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Transportation, or Structural Engineering or related discipline.
• EIT certification or FE exam within 18 months of hire or promotion.
• 5 years of related experience.
• Domestic and/or international travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as Task Manager or Project Engineer on multiple work orders.
• Support proposals and project staffing.
• Perform traffic simulations using Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, HCS, SIDRA.
• Conduct safety analyses using HSM and Safe System principles.
• Support multimodal and transit analyses and planning studies.
• Prepare corridor/PEI studies and Needs & Deficiencies assessments.
• Develop Functional Design Reports and Preliminary Engineering Reports.
• Support ITS planning and design.
• Peer review traffic studies from other consultants.
• Design traffic signals and signal systems, including plans and cost estimates.
