Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Sr. Traction Power Engineer to join the World Class Rail Systems Team in the New York, NY office. This role leads design efforts for traction power systems on electrified railways, including AC and DC networks and substation design, with opportunities on projects like Metro North, LIRR, PATH, MBTA, and NJ Transit.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, 6+ years in traction power design, and strong knowledge of AREMA/IEEE standards, with willingness to travel nationally.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 6 years traction power design experience.
• PE license required.
• Experience with traction power AC/DC, HV/LV systems, relaying, rectifier, distribution, SCADA.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineers/drafters on one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, cable sizing, substation layouts and equipment specs.
• Develop proposals, cost estimates, tests plans and technical studies for traction power systems.
• Perform protective relay settings and coordination studies.
• Ensure compliance with AREMA, NEC NFPA 70, IEEE C2, and US standards.
• Travel nationally to AECOM locations and client offices.
