Job summary

AECOM’s Transportation group is seeking a dynamic Traction Power Engineer to join our World Class Rail Team in support of the New York Metro Region systems practice. The ideal candidate will perform design calculations, learn and apply new material efficiently, and support the rail systems group during design and construction projects.

You will work on ongoing notable projects with major railway systems and have experience with commuter rail, light rail, and subway projects across the US.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 4+ years Traction Power design experience.
• Railway electrification design, construction, testing & commissioning, and maintenance of electrical substations.
• Electrical calculations of railway traction substations.

Responsibilities

• Prepare power systems AC and DC single-line diagrams and related schematics.
• Develop engineering design criteria and reports.
• Prepare engineering technical specifications.
• Perform onsite inspections in live high-voltage substations and along active railroads.
• Attend factory tests, site commissioning tests, and prepare field reports.
• Perform protective relay settings and coordination studies, and estimate engineering budgets.
