Job summary

AECOM’s Transportation group is seeking a Traction Power Engineer to join our World Class Rail Team in support of the New York Metro Region systems practice. The ideal candidate will design and analyze power systems for commuter rail, light rail and subway projects, perform onsite inspections, coordinate tests, and develop technical specifications.

This hybrid role offers exposure to major rail projects across the US and opportunities to contribute to transformative infrastructure while growing

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field plus 4 years of traction power design experience.
Experience with DC and AC railway electrification, including substations.
Development of technical specifications for electrical substation equipment.
Electrical calculations of railway traction substations.
Design, calculation, and construction of grounding and bonding networks for electric railways.

Responsibilities

Prepare AC/DC single-line diagrams and related schematics for power systems.
Create wiring drawings, conduit routing, cable schedules, and equipment layouts.
Develop grounding grid designs and lightning protection plans.
Attend factory and site tests; prepare field reports and observations.
Perform protective relay settings and coordination studies; estimate budgets and schedules.
