Job summary

AECOM Corporation seeks a motivated Traction Power Project Engineer in Philadelphia, PA to design and analyze DC or AC traction power systems for rail and electrified transit networks. You will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver reliable power solutions.

The role requires strong CAD capabilities (AutoCAD/MicroStation), experience with power system analysis software, and a PE license or progress toward one. Hybrid work arrangement offered.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field with 4 years of relevant experience or equivalent.
• Experience with electrical power systems, circuit analysis and electrical theory.
• Experience with AC and DC power concepts.
• Experience with power system analysis software such as ETAP or SKM Power Tools.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• PE license or ability to obtain within two years of hire.
• Ability and willingness to obtain PM certification within two years of hire.
• Valid US Driver’s License with ability to visit project sites; MVR checks.

Responsibilities

• Assist design and analysis of traction power distribution systems (substations, OCS, third rail).
• Develop electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, layouts using CAD software.
• Perform voltage drop, current flow, and power system calculations.
• Prepare technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
• Conduct field inspections and site visits.
• Assist testing and commissioning of traction power equipment.
• Maintain project records and collaborate with other disciplines.
