Job summary

Nextpower seeks a Lead Tool Technician Mechanic to serve as the top technical authority for installation tooling and field tool-support programs. You will lead planning, deployment, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of tooling systems at customer sites.

You will plan tool workshops, diagnose complex mechanical/hydraulic/electrical issues, translate schematics into field actions, and train customers and staff on best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is preferred.
• 5+ years supporting installation tooling, construction or industrial equipment.
• Advanced knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems.
• Experience diagnosing complex equipment problems and implementing safe fixes.
• Experience leading technical work at active sites with minimal supervision.
• Ability to deliver technical training and mentor others.
• familiarity with EH&S requirements and field safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Act as senior technical resource for tooling and field deployment.
• Plan, schedule, and execute tool workshops setup, commissioning, and calibration.
• Diagnose complex equipment issues using schematics and diagnostics.
• Translate technical docs into clear field instructions and actions.
• Create and maintain safety plans, inspection records, and EH&S docs.
• Lead field tool-support activities with customers and teams.
• Forecast tooling demand, site requirements, and staffing with management.
• Provide technical leadership and training to customers and staff.
• Develop preventive maintenance guides and standard work.
• Capture observations and recommend product/process improvements.
• Maintain service records, parts usage, and calibration data.
• Exercise sound judgment balancing safety, quality, schedule, and cost.
• Promote safe work practices and compliance across sites.
• Travel to customer/construction sites as needed.
