Job summary

Nextpower LLC is hiring a Lead Tool Technician Mechanic to serve as the authority on installation tooling and field tool-support programs. You’ll oversee planning, deployment, commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and continuous improvement of tooling systems at customer sites, guiding customers and internal teams with clear, practical solutions.

The role requires deep expertise across hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and controls systems, plus a proven ability to train and lead field

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, Maintenance Technology, or related technical discipline preferred.
• 5+ years of progressively responsible experience supporting installation tooling, construction equipment, industrial equipment, field service, equipment maintenance, or related technical environment.
• Advanced working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical systems; read schematics and technical documentation.
• Experience independently leading technical work at active sites with changing priorities and limited supervision.
• Experience developing or delivering technical training and mentoring technicians.
• Working knowledge of field safety practices, Job Hazard Analyses, equipment inspections, lockout/tagout, and EH&S requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; maintain accurate service, inventory, maintenance, and project documentation.
• Ability to build relationships with customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders; travel up to 100%.

Responsibilities

• Act as the senior technical resource for installation tooling, tool-support workshops, and field deployment activities.
• Plan, schedule, and execute delivery, setup, commissioning, calibration, relocation, and demobilization of tool-support workshops.
• Diagnose and resolve advanced problems using schematics, manuals, diagnostic tools, and root-cause analysis.
• Translate technical information into clear field instructions and corrective actions.
• Create, review, and maintain EH&S documentation and site safety plans.
• Lead field tool-support activities with owners, customers, subcontractors, and internal teams.
• Forecast tooling demand, schedules, staffing needs, and equipment availability with management.
• Provide technical leadership and hands-on coaching to customers and staff on setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
• Develop preventive-maintenance guides and training materials.
• Capture field observations and communicate improvements to Engineering, Product, Quality, and Service teams.
• Maintain service records, parts usage, tool inventories, and calibration documents.
• Travel to customer and construction sites as business needs require.
