Job summary

Challenge Manufacturing is seeking an Advanced Tooling Engineer to join the launch team. You will manage tool design, build, and GD&T, ensuring parts meet specifications and deadlines for 1st shift operations at our Walker, MI facility.

Responsibilities include coordinating tool design reviews, creating SOWs, tracking gages, and maintaining schedules with suppliers to deliver 100% quality stampings for automotive assemblies. A strong engineering background is essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum six years of experience in Tool and Die Build/Design or Sheet Metal Stamping or equivalent education and experience.
• Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the creation of GD&T and stamping requirements.
• Coordinate tool design, build, design reviews, sample requirements, and CAD data archiving.
• Create SOWs and obtain signed approvals from suppliers.
• Track tooling and component gages from PO to production, ensuring Challenge specifications are met.
• Prepare release level data and GD&T for suppliers.
• Maintain tooling project schedules and ensure due dates are met.
• Monitor weekly issues and drive timely closure.
• Verify part quality throughout the program and drive to nominal."
• Attend weekly open issues meetings to report die and gauge status.
