Job summary

ARCO Design/Build seeks a Superintendent with 5+ years as a lead superintendent on tilt-up projects for our Richmond-area portfolio. You will manage field operations, ensure schedule adherence, and enforce safety and quality control across project teams.

Role emphasizes coordinating subcontractors, material handling, and on-time delivery within budget while upholding company policies and procedures. A strong leader with problem-solving skills is essential.

Qualifications

• 5–25 years experience as a lead superintendent on tilt-up construction projects.
• Able to make decisions under tight deadlines.
• Able to organize people, tools, and equipment and plan/manage multiple activities.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with ability and willingness to face challenges, direct others, and effectively address conflict.
• Possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in your state of residence.

Responsibilities

• Attend the post award review meeting to receive project information and details for preplanning prior to construction.
• Prepare a schedule of construction activities and their sequence, the organization structure, staff selection, and the manpower and equipment requirements.
• Ensure adequate manpower to meet construction schedules.
• Analyze equipment requirements and provide necessary equipment to utilize manpower efficiently.
• Perform material and quantity estimates for each phase of work.
• Direct and control the total construction project to meet specifications and schedule within budget.
• Supervise the activities of craft superintendents and foremen.
• Convey to subordinates the most efficient construction techniques to assure quality and efficiency.
• Assist in obtaining approvals of shop drawings and material samples; prepare and submit change orders.
• Direct all subordinates in supplying required accounting data and conforming to company procedures.
• Coordinate subcontractors to integrate with schedules and progress.
• Inform supervisors and subcontractors of schedule changes.
• Review change orders with PM to ensure costs, overhead, profit and time are accounted for.
• Assist in preparing progress and cost reports.
• Review and approve requisitions, PO's, invoices, and progress payments.
• Cooperate with owner representatives and architects while protecting company interests.
• Report progress and problems to the PM; keep diaries of project facts.
• Adhere to the safety program and company policies across all activities.
• Carry out additional responsibilities assigned by the PM.
