Job summary

NuScale Power, LLC is seeking a seasoned Thermal-Hydraulics Engineer (SAUG) to analyze and review subchannel and system TH using VIPRE and RELAP5. You will support reload safety analyses, SMR product development, and licensing deliverables.

The role requires a BS in Nuclear/Mechanical/Chemical Engineering, 8+ years of relevant experience, and the ability to work remotely within the contiguous United States with occasional travel.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Nuclear, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited program.
• 8+ years of full-time, directly relevant engineering experience.
• Experience with RELAP5 is required.
• Eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and verify VIPRE subchannel analyses, including CHF predictions and margin evaluations.
• Prepare and verify RELAP system-level TH evaluations (LOCA, transients, design-basis).
• Assess system designs and features to meet safety functions and margins.
• Lead cross-functional thermal-hydraulic reviews for safety analyses and licensing deliverables.
• Develop and maintain licensed TH methods and implement analyses; advise on code updates.
• Adapt TH methodologies to country-specific regulatory expectations for international customers.
• Coordinate interfaces across Nuclear Fuels to manage design and analysis interfaces.
• Provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers, and lead complex analyses.
• Contribute to licensing reports, license applications, and interactions with regulators.
• Prepare technical documents with emphasis on subchannel and system TH.
• Handle multiple tasks across diverse areas and develop innovative solutions.
