Job summary

L3Harris Technologies, Inc. is seeking a senior Thermal Analyst Mechanical Engineer (Space Systems) based in Wilmington, MA.

This role drives thermal design, analysis, and testing of optical systems for space environments, mentoring teams in advanced thermal methodologies and tools. You will work on multidisciplinary teams, directing analyses of conductive, convective, and radiative heat transfer, and collaborate with customers during design reviews.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field with minimum 12 years experience; graduate degree with minimum 10 years; or equivalent 16 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years experience using thermal analysis tools such as Thermal Desktop (preferred), Sinda, Thermal Fluent, Icepak.
• Professional experience with thermal vacuum testing.
• 5+ years experience on aerospace/space programs.

Responsibilities

• Lead thermal design and analysis tasks for complex mechanical hardware and space systems.
• Perform design concepts using FEA and thermal analysis software.
• Develop thermal test plans and oversee design reviews and IPT activities.
• Organize thermal design and analysis as an IPT lead, interfacing with customers and management.
• Document and present design and analysis results to customers at gate and design reviews.
• Mentor junior analysts and support new business opportunities.
